Over the last two years it seems as though mainstream UK Hip Hop, Soul and R’n'B took a synthesized turn for the worse. Week after week our homegrown talent churned out forgettable lyrics over rehashed dance mixes and a pre set drum beats.
For all the crap, there are a few Brits that have been out there for a while but only just beginning to bubble beneath that mainstream surface. Slowly but surely we are getting some authentic singers that sound like they are deviating from the line of best auto tune fit.
There are 5 reasons that I keep hope alive for UK R’nB, they are Emieli Sande, Alex Mills, Tawiah, Elviin and Bluey Robinson. Check out why you need to keep tabs on these guys (videos after the jump)
Emeli Sande – Daddy
Alex Mills – Beans on Toast
Tawiah – Watch out
Elviin – Worth getting arrested for
Bluey Robinson – Give me a sign
