I first blogged about Jay almost two years back, (yes I’m that fly) when I first heard Renaissance man. Since then I’ve missed one of his London gigs and his surprise set at Lovebox. I finally got to see the man perform this week at Cargo and he did not disappoint.
Ripping through pretty much everything from his Victory mixtape Jay had the crowd hanging onto every lyric like a preacher man on Sunday morning. Like the Pied Piper, he led his fans onto the stage, not content with the masses on stage he dived into the crowd to end his set amongst the people, who proceeded to circle him like piranas.
The man possesses the intricate wordplay of Big L and the gravitas of Biggie, together you have a potentially deadly combination of Hip Hop greatness.
