Catablog of music .V7.
once again were bringing you a virtual packet of sensory overload. Prepare your eyes and ears for the Seventh volume of Composed & Conducted – the catablog of music
The bumper easter edition of catablog spawned a obese catablog of music VOLUME 6.1 Volume 6.2 This week we’re back to size thanks to a nasty dose of facebook slimfast.
For many of you tuesday came and passed without humilation, for others the humiliation rained down like getting caught in a storm with flipflops, shorts and a t-shirt, for others it was just another opportunity to try and be funny, many of you failed!
For me it was the day when I played the fool unwittingly all day. At the end of it I reflected on the words of the intellectual powerhouse George dubya Bush, when he so eloquently said “There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” Or so I thought, this old fool got rickrolled 3 times in one day!
Whilst you recover from another rickroll why don’t you use this as just another opportunity for you to share, recommend and find music that may not necessarily find the light of day or just may be of interest to other people. The aim is to have a directory of great music or what I have coined a catablog of music.
Please add your three (max) picks to this week’s catablog. Format is as follows;

Classic

Arirang
NYP Arirang – youtube
NYP myspace
This is eight minutes of the most amazing composition I have heard in years. This performance is from the historic NYP visit to North Korea. The orchestra play the famous Korean composition Arirang and definitely worth listening to even if you do not normally listen to classical music.
Experimental Rock
Jon Brion

ROCK
Artist: Electric Six
Track: Down at McDonnelzzz
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?mdt9kdn1zvy
Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/electricsixmusic
This fortnight’s picks are united by their sheer lunacy. First up, Electric Six tell the sorry tale of a fast-food chain employee who finds his McDonalds besieged by a gang and their over-enthusiastic and protective leader. If next time you and your mates get turned down entry from somewhere, and you bellow ‘My people need a place to GO!’ as a response, you can blame it on this song.
POP
Artist: Prince
Track: Pussy Control
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?8039f13kv03
An equally outrageous track from Prince which I recently discovered. In his own special way, I think Prince was trying to write a feminist anthem about power, sexism and assertiveness. Pity that noble aim was fatally undermined by the decision to use the lyrics, ‘Oh, pussy control!”. Still, it’s a brilliantly OTT listen.

Noah and his whale rock. Just listen to the track, and you’ll understand. The video is pretty cool, and Laura Marling makes a guest appearance on vocals.
