This was the third volume of the Composed and Conducted- Catablog of music.

In Volume 2 composed and conducted entered its sophmore year. In otherwords, it started to figure out what it was supposed to be doing, courted some potential suitors and found new admirers. In all V2 was a sucess in the discovery of some spliffingly good music!

In what has been a terrible week for a Mr Dwain Chambers, the rt hon Alister Darling and anyone who hoped mariah carey would just stop singing The definitive music catablog hopes to right all this week’s wrongs by deliverying you all with some music therapy! Thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far, catablog loves you! Volume 3 hopes to continue in the same vein as its predecessors, shining some light on the darkend corridors of music and the web.

This is another opportunity to share, recommend and find music that may not necessarily find the light of day or just may be of interest to other people. The aim is to have a directory of great music or what I have coined a catablog of music.

Please add your three (max) picks to this week’s catablog. Format is as follows;

This is one I didn’t expect to be posting, however after watching a documentary on this guy, I did abit of digging and loved what I heard. Touted as one of the most talented living classical artists today I thought it was perfect to shine some light on his work. Although his virtuosity can get abit much I think he is a brilliant artist

Now this woman has a decent voice, I am not a fan of alot of her stuff but i reallyreally like the Ice King Song that she released back in 2001. Check out her myspae you may like her other stuff.

Not new and not getting any younger, the new young pony club are great, i love it, its fun harmless sometimes edgy newwave bumblgum music. The bomb is definitely the bomb!

So what are the cool kids listening to these days? DJ NG but no one calls him DJ Ng because no one can pronouce it properly its DJ N-G. Well as somone who has a name people find difficult to pronounce that would piss me off…..until I listen to Tell Me.

A nice little track mixing funky house, a didgeridoo and some old garage sounds.

    SOULFUL HOUSE
    Ben Westbeech
hang around (karizma’ deeper one remix)

Can’t find the mix I’m talking about but the original is here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SwBBYFCpgk

Ben Westbeech is producing some really interesting funk/soul beats in a very eclectic fashion. The karizma mix of this is a soulful house record which takes a bit off the tempo of the original which I think makes it better. his album “welcome to the best years of your life” is brilliant.

    TECH HOUSE
WTF (tommy lee and deadmau5 collaboration I think)
    Chicken

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckXMqq7pH98

Sound quality isn’t amazing but I love the track and its proving impossible to find on vinyl or mp3 so I’m still unable to play it out which is annoying but I love the heaviness of the bass and the driving nature of the beats.

    ELECTRO
    Digitalism
    Zdarlight

An excellent electro track of similar quality to Daft punk. I’ve been playing this out for a month and its quality.

I’m going through the ages on this one

    From Now:
    80’s Pop
    Alphabeat
    Fascination
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8CEZpqckSI

I’m pretty sure that I’m not cool for liking this but its properly stuck in my head at the moment. And it sounds a bit like the theme tune to “Duck Tales”.

From a couple of years ago:
    Indie
    The Crimea
    Lottery Winners on Acid
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij_XOMM2gxA

The video is a bit quiet but you still get an idea of how lovely it is.

    From ages ago:
    Acoustic
    Leonard Cohen
    The Stranger Song
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLq7Aqd_H7g

I watched the film about him that came out a couple of years ago “I’m Your Man” – and it was incredibly disappointing so I had to run back to the originals. I suggest you do to.

One of the most original tracks I’ve heard in ages – some will play it over and over again, others will think it’s just f**king awful noise – I love it. What Queen would have made if they’d grown up on the continent listening to techno!

    Trip-hop

Cat’s Eyes comes from Paris and makes beautiful music of all genres, both live and produced. I’ve no idea how I found her but I’m delighted that I have.

    Esoterica
    Geyser
    Oriental

Geyser runs his own tiny independent label in Cologne, and has brought in some of the best new music I’ve heard from that country since the glory days of !K7 & Compost. Check the label page for Veron’s ‘Endless Sky’.
